Coach Mike is a Toronto native who brings a wealth of on-court experience as both a high-level basketball player and a dedicated coach. Having competed at the collegiate level with Academy of Art University, he made his mark as a versatile forward, excelling in rebounding, defense, and leadership. His basketball journey also includes recognition from North Pole Hoops, showcasing his impact on the Canadian basketball scene.
Now coaching the Grade 6 to 8 Elite Rep Team, Coach Asante is passionate about developing young athletes and helping them reach their full potential. With years of experience playing at an elite level—and still actively competing—he brings a unique perspective to coaching, emphasizing skill refinement, basketball IQ, and a strong work ethic. His hands-on approach, deep understanding of the game, and ability to connect with young athletes make him a valuable mentor, preparing players for the next level of competition while continuing to push his own limits as an athlete.
